Comptosia ocellata Newman, 1841

Medium-sized fly, large eyes, tube-like mouthparts, thin legs, dark body bearing golden hairs, wings marbled grey-brown with opaque white bar near tip. Adults feed on nectar and are often seen at flowers. They also bask on bare ground.
