A small marine snail that is coloured purple-black, overlaid with flecks of white or pale yellow, forming a marbling pattern that may be arranged into regular wavy bands. Central part of base of shell strongly grooved, and usually tinged green

Size

Can grow to around 20mm

Habitat

Lives amongst the rocks and seaweed from the intertidal areas out to shallow subtidal areas

Distribution

South-eastern Australia from South Australia, Victoria and around Tasmania
