Red Sausage Weed

About

A sausage or club shpaed sac or bladeder that is filled with a glue-like substance (mucilage). The colour varies from reds to pale greens or greys. The bladders extend and tapper outward from a simple holdafst disc.

This species can at times be found growing on other algae species and seagrasses

Size

Can grow up to around 16cm long

Habitat

Can be found growing on subtidal structure such as rocky reefs and pier pylons

Distribution

New Zealand and Australia including around Tasmania
