About

The female of this species lays it's eggs into a host caterpilla or pupa where they hatch and in turn feed on the host

Identification

Black body with white spots. The legs are orange and the antenna are black with a broad white band. Females have a long ovipositor (egg laying tube) that is longer than the body. The male does not have an ovipositor.

Size

Can grow to a body length of around 15mm

Habitat

Normally scuraging around soils to find hosts for it to deposit eggs

Distribution

Across Australia including around Tasmania
