About

Another of the common chitons found around the area, this species i find more in subtidal areas where they are more constantly underwater than other local species

Identification

A flattend body that has an elongated oval shape with 8 shell sections the colour is variable from yellows to browns and has a fleshy girdle

Size

Can grow to around 50mm

Habitat

Can be found under rocks from the intertidal zones to subtidal rocky reefs

Distribution

Southern Australia from NSW to WA including around Tasmania
