This species colour varies from whitish greys to pinkish reds, it is densely branched with many tufted fronds. It is a common species in rock pools and on shallow rocky reefs and is often found growing on sea grasses and other seaweeds.

Worldwide in Australia this is a common species and is found in most states including around Tasmania

The thallus can grow to around 10cm
