Marine Pill Bug

About

An isopod with a pale grey body that features a pair of double flat, oval-shaped plates at the rear with a head that is rounded and the posterior end pointed.

Like other isopods this species are scavanger feeding on the decaying matter along our shorelines and on the sea floor.

Size

Usually less than 1 cm long, but up to 2 cm long

Habitat

Under stones on sheltered intertidal shores

Distribution

South-eastern Australia
